What happens if I make bears.

Not many people know this (not many people even know me) but I love teddy bears. I've been collecting bears for 7 years, and now I have 2. I know it's not many but I had only 1 until a month ago. I'm not even sure if it's called a collection. But there's at least some progress since I have one more now than before, and I've been trying to collect bears for 7 years, so I'm going to call myself a bear collector.

It's just so hard to find bears I like. They have to have right faces, right sizes and weights, material is very important, too. Merrythought from England makes really nice bears. They are all handmade. I love the cheeky series. And the new bear I have is from a German company Steiff. The tiny bear is made with alpaca fur. So he is a bear and also an alpaca. How nice.

Since I can't find bears I like so easily, I decided to make them on my own. I started cutting fabrics without drawing any lines, without knowing what they were going to look like. I just kept sewing until I was satisfied.

And... a little bit later, they were born..

They turned out to be not the kind of bears I would buy. And they are not even bears. I think I'm going to stay on the side of the bear buyer, not the bear maker. But I decided to become some kind of stuffed animaler!

So, it's turkey sandwich time!! :D

Sometimes I paint.
When I have to paint, I REALLY have to paint. Like I don't have time to go find brushes and a pallet and water. So I use my fingers as brushes, my skin (usually legs and left arm) as a pallet, and I guess I get water from a bottle that I'm drinking from or something..?
I don't have much to say about these paintings.
So... Here! I painted something! :D

I forgot where I found this sketchbook.
But the paper isn't shiny clean white, the thickness isn't even, and you can see the pulp through the light. Nice $18.99. (Somehow I remember just the price)

I'm making some very stupid desert creatures now. I was painting one of their heads today and suddenly I felt like blogging. It's so rare so I'm going to say something now even though I don't really have anything to show here..

I was thinking of some dry sandy tan-ey color for them but I started painting and it changed. I used blue and cold yellow and some red and orange-y yellow and green and... I don't remember. This is called mystery dreamy colour. I wonder if you can see well in the pictures.. I used my camera phone and it's like.. maybe 3cm (1cm=0.39370078740157in) better than a poop. If you can't see it well enough, just come to my apartment. The address is 241....... maybe not. Don't come to my apartment.

I'm still working on the color. I might change it. Actually, probably I will. Then why am I updating this blog now...? hmmm...... .... .......

I feel like custard. Rie feels like custard. (It's important. I had to say it twice.) I should make a banana cream pie soon.

It was a warm, shiny morning. I was having a nice and slow, peaceful waking up time checking my e-mails. I didn't have any plans for the day, but I was excited about the Saturday.

I found an e-mail. It says;

just wated to let you know that drop off for the october cave show is this saturday from noon-3pm.

...It's today. ..hmm. I haven't finished my works for the show yet.

.........OK. I'm going to have some cereal now. I like brown fiber-y cereals. I had a happy breakfast with my favorite little spoon.

This is my sloth. I made his body with fabric. and I made his face and claws with sculpey. I liked making him with different materials. I want a real one now.

Senior show

I haven't posted how the bird and mushrooms look like yet. actually, I'm glad I burned mushrooms now. they look boko-boko and I like it. the bird is fuwa-fuwa and I like it. It took a little while to make his expression. It's supposed to be "I know I'm doing something wrong. so, don't watch me. I'm scared of myself and you" face. that's why he is behind the plant.
I like making expressions. actually, the 2 head animal was supposed to be one is mad, one is crazy. but now they look like one is mad, and one is mad. hrm... it's ok! I still want them as my pet.
And the environment, I wanted it to be fun to see. there are 9 stinkbugs, 3 roaches, 2 worms, and me somewhere in there. I'm so scared of roaches, but I like drawing or making them. I like grotesque, scary things. I think these are elements of beauty.
Anyway, I'm happy about them. waaai waai! (Japanese happy sound)

I had ice cream twice tonight, but I'm on a diet. I decided it today, and already I had too much ice cream. hrmmm......... but, they were delicious.

I'm almost done with the first animal. But, they don't have names. I call them "them". I want them to be in my house, walk around, eat my furnitures, and meat. And we sleep together. I want to go on a picnic with them.

I made mushrooms and burned them all. I used the toaster oven. I've been using a heat gun, and it's the first time I used the toaster oven for sculpey. I put the mushrooms in it for less than 5 minutes, and I went to check them before the timer went off. The toaster oven was in the kitchen and when I checked them, I saw so much smoke coming out from both sides of the toaster oven. I thought, "......................they're dead". I opened it, and they were even more burned than I thought. They were almost all black and the surface was all bubbly and half melting. The kitchen was all smokey and I could only see about 2 feet away. They look dead, but maybe I can still use them. I could paint them and maybe make them look good, but I really don't know yet...

I’m interested in Living things. In one time, I didn’t want to associate with humans at all. They seemed so impure to me, even myself. They have languages. Their inside is different from outside. I wanted to be separated from humans, and live and die in nature. I didn’t want to associate with humans, even though I’m human. Nature doesn’t talk, so they express their feelings by how they make their faces and bodies, and how they make noises. I even feel that trees have minds because of their smells and shadows and textures and splintered, broken parts. They express their feelings very directly. It might seem just wild, but it’s very beautiful to me. I thought animal’s expressions are beautiful, even when they are angry. They show anger to reveal their existence. Although they may be hurt they still try to walk because they want to live. I feel their strong energy and spirit when I see their faces. So, I want to express the power of nature and animals.

I’ve been drawing and always want to see the world I create. I say “see”, but I don’t just mean “see”. I mean feel and smell and experience the world I can only imagine in my head. When I draw characters and environments, I imagine how their texture feels, how they smell, and what kind of noises they make or voices they have. I have been thinking that 2D isn’t enough to express my world, so I’m trying 3D. I hope that it will start to make my world a little more concrete instead of just remaining images in my head. I want to know my world, and I want others to know it, as well.

actually, i don't like showing this to people. i feel like i'm a little bit of a dark person.... but, i don't think many people are reading this, so it's ok!!!

Continuing the bird

In the last post, I told a story of the bird and it stopped before ended. So, I'm going to tell the rest of the story.
The bird wanted to fly, so he started thinking about the way to fly so hard. Then he realized what he needed was right feathers. He started collecting feathers of other birds that can fly. He kept doing it, and one day he started killing the other birds. A little while later, he got all the feathers he needed, but he still couldn't fly. He realized that his body was too heavy to fly. So, he cut his body and made it smaller. He also cut his long neck and made it shorter. But his legs, he couldn't change. He still has big, long legs.
...I don't know if he is going to be able to fly.
It's sad. but I like him.

I've been making fish.

I made 4 of them for a class that isn't my major. It took all of my time last week and I couldn't do anything else. But, I'm done with that project! I'm even more behind on my senior show now. So I'll keep working during the spring break! ha haaaaa....

I started making a bird. He was a flightless bird, but he was tormented by his obsession with flight. One day he realized that it was his body that was keeping him on the ground. So, he decided to change his body to be more suitable for flight. He started getting feathers from other birds and putting them on his body. Whenever he found another bird with better feathers, he would take all feathers out of them...

I'm not sure what happens next... I'll think more and finish this story.

It took a lot longer than I thought to finish this! I'm going to paint them and put a little bit of hair and maybe whiskers on them. It's going to be pink, like fleshy skin color with veins in it. I'm enjoying working on this a lot. Since this one is my first 3-D piece I've done, there are some (maybe a lot of) parts I could have done better. I'm learning as I work on it. And I think I'm going to want to make more detail on next one. It made me want to start with making bones and muscles to make an animal in 3-D. The anatomy is very important.
So, I'm going to start making a bird now!

Eyes!! I got them from a online doll eyes store that's called mini-world. They have really nice eyes. I wanted human eyes, not animal eyes because it's good to have the white part in the eyes to make expressions. I'm excited about them!

I like pens. When I was in college in japan, my major was graphic design. So I couldn't do much drawing there at all. Sometimes I did, but only sometimes. Pens were very easy to draw with. Because all I needed was a pen and paper. That's what I like about them. I don't need water or anything. These pictures are from my sketchbook. They are just sketches. But that's what I enjoy doing.

Senior show ideas.....

i have to make something for the senior show to graduate! i know what i like but it's a little hard to actually make it because i don't have much time. i have to finish it in 78 days! it's too short! so i need to decide what to do soon. like now..
i've been wanting to make my world. something creepy and beautiful fantasy...and a lot of nature. everything would be in nature. in the daytime, it's a very sunny and beautiful day, but at night it's dark and scary, full of strange creatures.
sometimes i feel like there is something shouting insinde of me. i feel like it's energy, and it tells me i have to make something with it. sometimes i feel like i want to make myself inside out and show people. i've been drawing and painting, but i feel like 2D isn't enough for this project. i've never made anything 3D, except for clay. but, it's what i want to try for this project. BUT! i don't have that much time. i feel like if i did what i really wanted to on this project, it would take over a year to finish. so, should i think of what i want to do, or should i think of what i can do??? what i want to do is make the sky with black fabric or something and make a small room with stars, to make it look like a night sky, somehow. and then make animals and make a big tree and draw or paint the landscape, maybe with a light from the bottom. and i want to make the sound, too. it wouldn't be like music, just noise or strange sounds. and i want to put something on the floor, too, to make it not comfortable to walk, like a forest. not just a smooth floor. that's what i want to do. what i can do, probably, is a few big drawings or paintings. they would be landscape with animals. and i would draw or paint a daytime one and a nighttime one, maybe from a distance or from different angles. and another thing that i can do is, maybe, i'll make 3d animals or creatures and put them in a sort of diorama with a painted background and a few things aroung them in the box. i think there are many things i could do, but i'm getting tired of typing, so i'll just say it tomorrow! oh, one more thing i thought about in the meeting today. i could have something hanging from the celing, because Choffee(??) said there won't be enough room this year, so i could take the celing space! but, this is just an idea...
i'll decide what to do tomorrow in class!!
